Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, that were often rooted in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, Denver fell in affection with Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his state of origin encouraged many to move to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame has stated that John Denver was the best singer to have captured Colorado. In the year 2011, Denver was selected as the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. He is now the symbol of Colorado for people worldwide. When I travel, I always come across someone from another continent, a person comes from New Zealand and you say 'I'm from Colorado and the very first thing that comes that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief involvement with folk bands it was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff created the song with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver first heard the song he knew right away the song was likely to become an instant hit. The song was performed in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer released the song a couple of days later.
