Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. who was born Henry J. Deutschendorf of Roswell near New Mexico fell in Love with Colorado. He moved to Aspen. More than a few people took the road through Colorado following the Denver's cult songs for his home state. I can't think of any more famous performer that embodies Colorado like John Denver said G. Brown director of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was the first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Denver is the symbol of Colorado to many all over the world. It is commonplace to meet people from different nations, including New Zealanders and ask them "I am from Colorado" and they immediately reply "Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint in folk groups which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff had written the song using Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver first heard the song it was clear that the song could be the next hit single. Following the performance during a concert in Washington D.C. to a vast crowd, he released the song a couple of days later.
